California Privacy Notice (CCPA/CPRA)

This California Privacy Notice explains how Help For America (the “Site”) collects, uses, discloses, and shares Personal Information of California residents, and describes rights available under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA/CPRA”).

The Site is operated by Help For America (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

We operate primarily as a “click-to-call” experience. We generally do not require you to submit a form on this page to request information. However, we may collect information automatically through cookies and similar technologies, and we may receive call-related information when you call numbers displayed on the Site.

3. Categories of Personal Information We Collect

In the last 12 months, we may have collected the categories of Personal Information below. The exact data depends on how you interact with the Site (e.g., browsing, clicking, calling).

Identifiers Online identifiers (IP address, device IDs), and if you call: phone-related metadata associated with the call.
Internet / network activity Pages viewed, clicks, timestamps, referrer/UTM data, interaction events.
Geolocation data (approx.) Approximate location derived from IP (city/state/region-level).
Audio / call information (if enabled) Call routing signals, call duration/outcome; call recordings or transcripts if enabled by partners/service providers and permitted by law.
Inferences Inferences drawn from browsing/call interactions to improve performance, prevent fraud, and personalize routing/measurement (where permitted).

Sensitive Personal Information

We do not intentionally collect “Sensitive Personal Information” (as defined by the CPRA) such as Social Security number, precise geolocation, or financial account credentials. If call recording is enabled, you should avoid sharing sensitive information during calls. If we receive Sensitive Personal Information, we use it only as reasonably necessary for permitted purposes (e.g., providing services, security, compliance, and legal obligations).

4. Sources of Personal Information

  • Directly from you: when you call or otherwise communicate with us/partners.
  • Automatically from your device/browser: when you browse and interact with the Site.
  • From service providers and partners: analytics, advertising, fraud prevention, and call routing/measurement providers.

5. Business Purposes for Collection and Use

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and user experience.
  • Display and route calls, and measure call performance and attribution.
  • Analytics, debugging, and quality assurance.
  • Security, fraud prevention, and compliance.
  • Marketing and advertising measurement (including interest-based advertising where applicable).

6. Disclosures of Personal Information

We may disclose Personal Information to the following categories of recipients for business purposes:

  • Call routing/measurement providers: to display numbers, route calls, detect fraud, and measure outcomes.
  • Advertising/measurement partners: to measure campaign performance and improve targeting (where enabled).

7. “Sale” / “Sharing” of Personal Information

9. How to Exercise Your Rights

To submit a California privacy request, you can:

10. Authorized Agents

You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require proof that you provided the agent permission to act for you and may still need to verify your identity directly.

11. Retention

We retain Personal Information as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Notice, including providing services, security, compliance, dispute resolution, and enforcing agreements. Retention periods vary by data type and purpose.

12. Minors

Our services are not directed to minors under 16, and we do not knowingly sell or share the Personal Information of consumers we know to be under 16.
